Subsidence can be caused by many issues, the most common locally is likely to be
related to shrinkable clay subsoil, often exacerbated by the presence of trees. However,
shallow foundations, made ground, leaking drains, leaking water mains and solution
features can also result in subsidence.
It is clearly important to be able to correctly determine the cause of subsidence
for the property to be repaired successfully and this is an area where experience
counts. We have extensive experience in this area and act as Consultants to several
Local Authorities and Housing Associations as well as homeowners.
We can prepare an initial report identifying the problems, specify and organise investigations
and prepare calculations and drawings for remedial works such as underpinning and
superstructure repairs. We can also prepare a schedule of works to enable the repairs
to be tendered.
